Not everyone thinks bigger is better. Bigger motorhomes can come with a lot of extra baggage that might be fine for families, but if you’re traveling alone or with one other person, then you might want to turn your attention to Class B motorhomes.
What is a Class B Motorhome?
We’ll start with the basics, so let’s break it all down. Motorhomes are the only RV category that comes with its own drivetrain, including engine and fuel supply. This means that there’s no tow vehicle or hitching required and all you have to do is get behind the wheel and head down the road.
The larger motorhome group is broken down further into classes. Class B motorhomes are generally the smallest of these classes and, from the outside, you might even mistake them for a large van. In fact, many Class B models are built from repurposed van chassis. Inside, you’ll probably find only the most basic amenities, including a sleeping area, small living area, kitchen unit, and usually a bathroom with a shower. This can make for comfortable camping for single travelers or couples. Sometimes you can even fit a small family in a Class B motorhome.
Benefits of Class B Motorhomes
As you might guess, larger camping parties will struggle to feel comfortable in a Class B motorhome. But setting that aside, you might still question whether or not these rigs are right for you. Think about what you like and what relaxes you. Some people enjoy the quainter quarters, especially when it means less work for you. You won’t have to clean or maintain as much and, because there’s less vehicle to maneuver, driving is going to be a lot easier as well. You probably won’t even need a second, primary vehicle since Class B motorhomes can fit pretty easily in narrow city streets. Not to mention, with a smaller rig comes a cheaper price tag.
There are a lot of other great benefits to choosing a Class B motorhome, but the only way to know for sure is to check them out for yourself.
